SAGE: AI-Powered Decision-Support for Strategy

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Center for the Application of Grand Strategy to Demo SAGE at SCSP AI+ Expo

AI-powered decision-support platform brings the Strategy Stack to life for national security professionals

GLEN ALLEN, Va. — The Center for the Application of Grand Strategy (CAGS), a nonpartisan 501(c)(3) nonprofit, will demo its Strategic Advisory and Guidance Engine (SAGE) at the SCSP AI+ Expo, May 7-9, 2026, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. (Booth 745). The demonstration offers defense, interagency, and academic audiences a first look at how CAGS is applying AI to one of national security's most persistent challenges: translating strategic frameworks into actionable, evidence-grounded decisions.

The Strategy Stack

CAGS developed the Strategy Stack as a structured approach to connecting data, analysis, and decision-making across the instruments of national power. It integrates three core components: the National Power Index (NPI), a multi-domain dataset that measures and compares state power across diplomatic, information, military, economic, financial, intelligence, and legal dimensions; SAGE, an AI-powered decision-support and simulation platform; and a professional education curriculum that trains practitioners to apply both tools in real-world strategic contexts.

The Stack is designed to address a gap that persists across government and the private sector: strategies that are analytically sound in isolation but fail under the friction of institutional complexity, competing priorities, and incomplete information. By grounding scenario design in NPI data and stress-testing strategic options through SAGE, the Stack gives teams a structured way to surface second and third-order effects before decisions are made.

SAGE at the Expo

The live SAGE Alpha demonstration at Booth 745 will show how the platform operationalizes the instruments of national power for strategy analysis, scenario-based stress-testing, and professional education. Attendees can expect to see how SAGE integrates retrieval-augmented generation, knowledge graphs, and scenario planning to map consequences, identify coordination gaps, and support rigorous comparison across strategic choices.

SAGE is built for the institutions that bear responsibility for U.S. grand strategy: defense and interagency organizations, FFRDCs, professional military education institutions, and the private sector partners that increasingly share that burden. The platform is designed to foster the kind of interagency and public-private collaboration that coherent grand strategy requires.
